Avalanche Phenomenon Map (CLPA) describes the areas where avalanches have occurred in the past and are represented by their extreme limits reached

The Location Map of Avalanche Phenomena is a descriptive map of observed or historical phenomena, intended to inform and educate the population on the existence, in mountain territory, of areas where avalanches have actually occurred in the past, represented by the extreme limits reached. The CLPA is an informative document that has no regulatory value and whose establishment is not subject to any prospective analysis. The CLPA is designed to inform everyone interested in the existence of avalanches in a given region. Technical document, it is particularly addressed to the Mayors and the administrative or technical services concerned with the problems of natural risks in mountain.

The photo-interpreter analyzes these photographs in order to reveal traces of avalanches: holes in the vegetation, broken trees, moraines nivales ... This study is then supplemented by a field analysis that can detect clues invisible on the photographs. The information thus collected makes it possible to delineate the footprints of avalanches whose traces are visible on the ground
