The service contains the geographic flood data that MSB prepares to support municipalities and county boards in their planning work.
MSB and before the Swedish Civil Aviation Administration has since 1998 been tasked with the government's task of exploring all areas of the river, which can be flooded along the waterways and lakes of the country. Today, approximately 1,000 miles of watercourses are mapped.
Data is presented and provided as WMS services through this service and data can also be downloaded for further processing.
The previous national elevation data has a space resolution of 50x50 meters and the new one has 2x2 meters. This means that when a mapping is made with the new elevation data, it can be used as a much more detailed surface. While MSB updates the mappings with the new elevation data, the flows are also updated. The 100-year flow refers to the climate at the end of the century, even a new flow 200-flow has been added that also relates to the climate of the future at the end of the century.
50-year flow for today's climate: Shows which areas are submerged in a flood that statistically occurs once every 50 years. This flow has only been mapped for the locations identified under the flood risk regulation.
100-year flow for the future climate: Shows which areas are submerged in a flood that statistically occurs once every 100 years.
200-year flow for the future climate: Shows which areas are submerged in a flood that statistically occurs once in 200 years.
Estimated peak flow for today's climate: Shows which areas are submerged when all natural factors that contribute to a high flow interact, such as snow melting, precipitation, water saturated soil, etc. (roughly estimated a 10,000 year flow).
