Global - Real Time Tropical Storm Footprints (Hazards + Economic Losses/Damages) - Kinetic Analysis

This listing grants you a monthly license for access to the Kinetic Analysis client portal, which includes industry-standard shapefile datasets of hazard footprints for all active tropical storms in real-time. Your access package will also include our economic loss and damages model results for all active storms. Note that economic loss is only provided for winds and storm surges. Discounted price options are available for those who wish to purchase an annual license instead of a monthly one.

Our Tropical Storm datasets draw on a broad array of real-time weather data to drive in-house, advanced numerical modeling that computes the spatial distribution of maximum wind speed, wave heights, storm surge inundation, cumulative rainfall, and damages/loss consistent with a storm’s past track. Hazard footprints are based on observed storm track, intensity and wind radii provided by the designated Regional Specialized Meteorological Centres (RSMCs) for a given region (e.g., the National Hurricane Center for the Atlantic and eastern North Pacific basin), by the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) and by model guidance (e.g., from the ECMWF, HWRF, or the CMC).

Real-time data is provided at 60 arc-second (~2 km) resolution for expert-reviewed forecasts (NHC, JTWC, RSMCs) and at 120 arc-second (~4 km) resolution for machine-generated model guidance. Loss data is provided an estimate of the mean and as quantiles. Estimates of loss (i.e. economic impacts) are provided at Admin Level 0 (national), 1 (e.g., state) and, if available 2 (e.g., county). Customized resolutions and data units (default is SI) are available upon request.
