These data are provided by Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Alaska Fire Service, on behalf of the Alaska Wildland Fire Coordinating Group (AWFCG) and Alaska Interagency Coordination Center (AICC). This dataset represents points of origins of wildfires that occur naturally (e.g., lightning) or by humans accidentally (e.g., escaped campfire) or maliciously across Alaska. The dataset includes some, but not all, historic (fires declared ‘out’ in calendar years prior to the current year) wildland fires. There is no lower size limit for fires to be included and as such, reported 'false alarms' are included.
