Hurricane Florence - Inland Flood Scenario - September 18, 2018 - Impact Forecasting

Impact Forecasting has released an event footprint and ELEMENTS scenario for the inland flood (fluvial and pluvial) peril associated with Hurricane Florence. Florence made its U.S. landfall near Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina during the morning of September 14th and produced heavy rainfall across the Carolinas and portions of Virginia. This scenario is modelled using observational data inputs through September 17th, focusing on North and South Carolina and Virginia. Included in the package is a presentation with details on how the scenario was derived. This inland flood scenario follows IF’s in-season scenarios for the wind and surge components of Florence released on Friday, September 14th. Additional scenarios may be released as further information about the event becomes available.
