Regione Piemonte - Avalanche - Geoportale Arpa Piemonte

Instrument for analysis and consultation of cartographic data, alphanumeric data base, photographs and associated historical documents, periodically updated in light of seasonal avalanche events and the retrieval of new data. It contains all the information and documents concerning the avalanche theme collected since the first years of the establishment of the Piedmont Region's Nivological Service, now of Arpa Piemonte, for the realization of the Probable Avalanche Location Maps (CLPV) and the Valanghivi Sites Maps. (CSV), collected and compiled to the average scale 1: 25.000 with preliminary interpretative photo study of summer aerial images. In the summer of 2017, the cartographic data collected by the Province of Cuneo were integrated according to the same methodology, in order to standardize the availability of data, facilitating consultation with a complete territorial vision, also for avalanche risk prevention purposes. The purpose of the online service is to provide direct and guided access to the consultation of information on avalanche problems in mountain areas. For a correct use it is important to remember that the cartography presented here does not provide forecasting information but constitutes a basis of knowledge useful for carrying out the necessary in-depth analysis according to the application field in which it is used.
