The dataset represents, by way of example, the potentially floodable areas differentiated according to the times of return and the type of material deposited. The theme derives from a meticulous analysis of archival historical documents and a systematic interpretative study of aerial photography, carried out with repetitiveness in the Piedmont area until the 90s, thanks to which it was possible to identify the flooded and/or flooded areas along the 'water with indications on the frequencies of the phenomena in the last 100 years identifying the type of material deposited during the flood event. The dataset is part of the Database of Geological Processes carried out by the Piedmont Region in the second half of the 80s to respond to the growing demand for logical and structured information on the territory, necessary for the planning, coordination and addressing of choices and interventions in the territorial-geological area. The original thematic data was produced on the IGM 1: 100,000 denomination, structuring and integrating the data already collected by the CNR-IRPI of Turin as part of the research aimed at assessing the dangers associated with hydrological events in the Piedmont area.
