The theme identifies in the regional areas vulnerable sectors due to landslide phenomena from fluidization of the superficial blanket. These are landslides that occur during heavy rain events due to saturation and subsequent fluidification of loose materials constituting surface soils. They are landslides generally of modest dimensions and limited thickness, characterized by extreme rapidity that occur, during the same event, with great areal diffusion. A systematic study of gravitational movements produced in the surface cover soils during extraordinary rain events (CNR-IRPI of Turin) has shown that there is a correlation between landslides and precipitation heights. Based on the results obtained, through gis elaborations with slope data, plant cover, soils and isoiete, the sectors of the slope most vulnerable to this type of failure have been identified. The dataset is part of the Database of Geological Processes carried out in the second half of the 80s by the Geological, Meteorological and Seismic Risk Prevention Sector of the Piedmont Region (later merged into the ARPA) to respond to the growing request for logical and structured information on the territory , necessary for the planning, coordination and direction of choices and interventions in the territorial-geological field.
