Regione Piemonte - Inventory of landslides - Geoportale Arpa Piermonte

The dataset makes available the information extracted from the SIFraP relating to landslide phenomena of various types. The SIFraP was born as an extension of the IFFI Project (Inventory of Landslides in Italy), built between 2002 and 2005, as well as the development of the knowledge of the Regional Center for Territorial and Geological Research in the field of landslides. The SIFraP is managed by a group of technical officers within the Center for Territorial and Geological Surveys of Arpa Piemonte and its objectives are essential to integrate, develop and constantly update the database on the inventory of landslides in Piedmont and make an ever-increasing percentage of the above data available on the network via WebGIS service.

The SIFraP was born as an extension of the IFFI Project (Inventory of Landslide Phenomena in Italy), developed between 2002 and 2004, as well as the development of knowledge of the Regional Center for Territorial and Geological Research (formerly part of the Regional Services Technical Directorate Prevention) in the field of landslides. The IFFI project was promoted by the former National Geological Service, then merged into APAT and today in ISPRA; the IFFI project was developed for Piedmont by Arpa and involved the construction of an information system comprising around 35,000 landslides that were mapped to the 1: 10000 scale. The Sifrap has the objective of constantly integrating, developing and updating the database relating to the inventory of landslide phenomena in Piedmont. The technical procedure Arpa U.RP.T087 " collection and analysis of historical and archival data; investigation of the territory through photointerpretation; detection and verification on the ground. The work was mainly based on the revision and analysis of the mapping of Frane 1: 100,000, realized by the Piedmont Region in the 1980s. The analysis of aerial photos has contributed to delimit the main types of landslides and to define the state of activity. Particular reference was made to the following flights: Gai (1954) -scala 1: 33.000; Alluvione68 (1968) -1: 20,000; IGM (1970) -1: 20,000; CGR (1978) -1: 13,000; Alluvione 1987 (1987) - 1: 14,000; Piedmont Region (1991) -1: 37.500; Flood 1994 (1994) -1: 20,000; Alluvion 2000 (2000) -1: 15,000. In addition, other flights relating to limited portions of the territory (event flights or detailed flights) have been viewed. In addition to the maps of Landslides 1: 100,000, numerous geological-thematic maps were consulted in order to standardize the existing information with the specifications required by the IFFI project. Particular reference was made to the various maps produced by the former Prevention Technical Services Department during the meteorological events that have affected the Piedmont area in the last 25 years, as well as the numerous information already present in the Geological Data Bank of the Piedmont Region. Finally, limited inspections were carried out in order to verify some of the phenomena detected by means of photointerpretation on the ground. Otherwise, within the CARG Project (Cabella Ligure sheets, Torino EST, Trino, Cesana T.se, Dego, Fossano and Alba) has been used more to survey land. The digitization of the roofs was carried out by the surveyors themselves using Arcview 3.x, based on the CTR 1: 10.000 cartographic cuts. The original database (IFFI) was merged into the SIFraP and was updated, as part of the ordinary activity of Arpa Piemonte, through: - acquisition of the results derived from specific projects developed by the Regional Center for Territorial and Geological Research; - acquisition of new information made available from other sources (regulatory plans, technical reports and other various projects); - relief on the ground in ordinary conditions or following disasters; - critical reviews of the existing inventory. During the two-month period February / March 2007, all the database of the Geographic Information System of ARPA Piemonte has been converted from the UTM - ED50 merged 32N coordinate system to the UTM WGS84 fused 32N system, to implement the resolution approved by the Piedmont Region with DGR n. 16-8136 of 30 December 2002 - "Adoption of the WGS84 / UTM system for the reference of geographical data to the Piedmont Region" in line with the new European directives, aimed at standardizing the data projection systems of the European Union bodies and of what has been defined by the State-Regions Conference with INTESA on the geographic information systems.
