Scandinavia - Historical Flood Database - Hydro-GIS Ltd

The Scandinavian Historical Flooding Database is a comprehensive archive of historical inland flooding in Norway and Sweden from the year 1345 to the present day. It covers inland flooding events originating from rivers, lakes, fjords, dam breaks and glacial outbursts. The basic information listed provides a date and location of the flood event, including the rivers affected. Further information is given where possible on the cause of the flood (including observations of rainfall and flows) and the amount of damage. The main database in in MS-XL format listing over 200 events, and it is appended with a list of references and 23 photos as visual references.

The database will help provide information on flood risk in Norway and Sweden and accompanies the Hydro-GIS extreme flood outlines for the main rivers of Norway and Sweden, freely available on Oasis Hub. Information from the database can be used to develop new flood catastrophe models or for the review audit of existing flood catastrophe models in these countries.
