Southeastern Asia - Flood Hazards Maps - JBA Risk Management

This is a dataset available for purchase under license. If you are interested in the dataset please contact us through 'get price button' on this page

JBA global flood maps set a new standard in broad-scale mapping, offering indicative flood extent and depth information at 30m resolution for undefended river and surface water flood hazard for 6 return periods (20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1,500-year).

Our market-leading, peer-reviewed flood mapping methodologies are based on observed river gauge and rainfall data. Flood extents and depths are derived by 2D-hydraulic modelling using globally consistent, best available elevation data, supplemented by suitable digital terrain data where available. The maps also include defence information, providing an indication of areas protected by flood defences, to provide a more representative view of risk.

The maps enable insurers to quantify the risk of river and surface water flood at any location worldwide. They can be used for indicative property-level flood risk assessment for insurance risk selection, pricing and underwriting, portfolio management and optimisation, as well as land use planning by governments and disasters risk reduction schemes.

The combination of JBA's cutting-edge software and use of bare-earth digital terrain data with consistent worldwide digital surface models ensure JBA's maps are credible, with updates and improvements driven by valuable feedback from JBA's large client base.
