A new scenario and footprint that covers the track of Windstorm Herwart that moved through Central Europe – with primary impacts in Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic – has been released. The footprints include a modelled view of incurred wind gusts.

Windstorm Herwart swept trough Central European countries on October 29, generating dangerous storm surge on the North Sea coast and severe gusts across Germany, Austria, Czech Republic and Poland.

The storm claimed ten lives, while insurance sector counts losses in hundreds of millions EUR

Footprint based on the gust from 1500+ stations provided by the UK Met Office

The data covers the period between the 28th and 30th (06Z) of October 2017

To account for the potential impact of gust duration, three different wind fields were derived based on the highest (Max), 2nd (Mid) and 3rd highest (Low) gust per station
