Global - CAIT Emission History (1850-2012) & Projections to 2100 - World Resources Institute

The Historical Emissions tool allows for easy analysis and visualization of the latest available international greenhouse gas emissions data. It includes emissions and derivative indicators for 186 countries, 50 U.S. states, 6 gases, multiple economic sectors, and 160 years - carbon dioxide emissions for 1850-2012 and multi-sector GHG emission for 1990-2012.

The CAIT Projections module provides ready access to emission projections for major emitters through the year 2100 (if data is available).

In addition to providing emissions data, this tool aims to increase the transparency of each scenario by publishing key assumptions and other related information. The CAIT Projections module is currently in Beta and contains only a selected sets of scenarios. However, we have plans to incorporate additional scenarios, sources, and countries in the future.

The data set contains emission projections reported by national government referred to "National Government" (the majority of which are National Communications and Biennial Reports submitted by governments to the UNFCCC), by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) and a set of Integrated Assessment Models (IAMs) from Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (PBL), International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), and Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK).
